We Support Ukraine!

The students and staff of Our Lady's N.S. were saddened to hear of the plight of the Ukrainian people. We decided that we wanted to do something to help. On Friday, April 8th we held a Ukranian Colours Day to show our support and collectively completed a 120km walk. Parents came and added a few km to the total as well. Together we raised €687.80 which will be added to the other monies raised by the parish to help provide support for those who have lost everything due to the war.

Thanks to all who contributed and participated.

Easter Egg Hunt

The Easter Bunny made a welcome return to Our Lady's NS just before the Easter holidays. He left lots of yummy eggs for our delighted younger students to find!

How to Choose the Correct Hurley Size

Subsidised hurleys, helmets and footballs will be available to order through the school for the next two weeks. Order forms will be sent home with the children.

The helmets are good value at €45. which is about half the recommended retail price.

For those wishing to order hurleys but who are unsure of sizes here is how to choose the correct size.

1. The child stands naturally and relaxed with their hands down by their sides.
2. The the top of the hurley should come up to the child's wrist.
3. The child should be able to hold the hurley at the top and the hurley should be just touching the ground.
4. If the child is between sizes it is better to have the hurley too small than too big.
5. If the child can use the hurley like a sword then it is the correct weight.

Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween from all the students and staff at Our Lady's N.S.

Confirmation and Communion 2021

October is not the usual month for celebrating First Communions and Confirmations but then 2021 has not been a usual year.

Congratulations to last year's Fifth and Sixth Class who received the sacrament of Confirmation in the Church of the Assumption on Sunday, October 3rd. Due to restrictions on numbers in the church, Our Lady's NS had a ceremony all to ourselves which made for a lovely intimate occasion. Thankfully  Archbishop Kieran O'Reilly was there to confirm the children made the occasion all the more special.

On the following Sunday our Third Class students took centre stage as they made their First Communion. Fr Quirke celebrated the Mass and our thanks go to him for all that he does for the children of our parish.

My Big Day - by Jack Carroll

On Saturday morning I woke up early got in the cows.

Neddy Donovan, Grandad's friend and mine, is a big dealer. He brought 5 calves into the mart and we brought 6.

It was Show and Sale Day and there were about 5000or more cattle and calves there. We went and got our breakfast with Sean's older brother Daniel and Neddy. Then I was with Danny watching it and looking at the cows and calves. The show was so big.

When Grandad heard that he had won first place he was full of joy and I was as well. So was Daniel. We got a trophy and a rosette. That was my best day.
