October was a busy month. We started with GOAL jersey day which was held on Friday October 11^th. The children enjoyed wearing their favourite jersey to school. €168 was raised, so thank you to everybody for your support.

We quickly followed on with our annual sponsored walk on Sunday October 13^th. It was a lovely fresh morning for a walk and we appreciate your support as always. Thanks to all who gave sponsorship cards and bought raffle tickets. €1414.45 was raised in total!

Halloween was in full swing on October 24^th. The children had great fun showing off their costumes and their moves on the cat walk! Thanks to the parents for helping with Mrs Egan’s delicious pumpkin soup and with the cake sale. The cake sale raised €328.40. Thanks to everyone who donated cakes and treats and to all who supported on the day!

Sixth Class Gift

 Many thanks to our departing Sixth Class and their parents for the thoughtful gift they presented to the school after their Graduation Ceremony.

The set of cushions are beautiful and we will fondly remember Amber, Charlie, Hannah, Lily, Niall, Niamh, Órla, Orla, Róisín, Sarah, Shane, Sophie, Taylor Rose and Wayne every time we use our now even more comfortable library. Go raibh míle maith agaibh.

Sixth Class Graduation

To cap off a busy week, and indeed a busy year, we honoured our departing Sixth Class with a Graduation Ceremony on Friday, June 21st.

With their parents watching on, we celebrated all that these 14 wonderful young people contributed to our school over the past eight years.

Following the ceremony we had the annual slide show before our graduates and their families were whisked away to the Parents' Room for some refreshments and of course some cake.

Slievenamon

On Thursday June 6th our soon to be graduating Sixth Class climbed Slievenamon. 

Friendship Week

 May 7th to 10th was Friendship Week in Our Lady's NS and one of the many friendship promoting activities that went on was the Inter Class Buddy Reading. First and Second Class got to read their books with their friends from Third and Fourth while Fifth and Sixth Class visited the Infant room to read with their young 'buddies'.

Lá Glas

 I rith Seachtain na Gaeilge bhí 'Lá Glas' againn ar scoil. Chaith na páistí agus na múinteoirí eadaí glasa agus bhí cluichí,spórt agus spraoí ag gach duine an lá go léir. Bhí Tráth na gCeist mór ar súil freisin agus fuair na buaiteoirí uibheacha Cásca.

Community Games

Well done to all our students who entered the Community Games Art and Handwriting competitions recently. Pictured below are our medal winners. Congratulations to all and best of luck to those representing Ballingarry in the County Finals.

Aistear

The children in Mrs Egan's class really enjoy their Aistear, where, (amongst other things), they get to learn through play.

That's St Patrick in the bottom picture, bagging up a few snakes, just in case you weren't too sure!

Official Opening of Our New Yard

 On Sunday, October 15th we had our official opening of our new yard. The large crowd who had gathered in front of the school after participating in our Sponsored Walk were led down to our new yard by Fr Quirke.

Fr Quirke gave some insight into the amount of planning, preparation and background work that went into making our dream into a reality. He thanked the Board of Management for all their work. And he also thanked Des Morris and his team for doing such a wonderful job in constructing the yard.

Our eldest and youngest students, together cut the ribbon to officially open the yard.

There was cake for the parents and some goodies for the children. Sixth Class students helped the younger ones plant some daffodils in our new beds in the revamped school garden. Members of last year's Sixth Class were present to help plant the tree they gifted the school on the occasion of their graduation.

It was a busy but memorable day. Thank you to all who attended to share it with us.

Sponsored Walk

 A big 'thank you' to our wonderful students and parents who turned up en masse to support our Annual Sponsored Walk. We were lucky with the weather on Sunday. The bright, crisp morning only served to highlight the lovely part of the country we live in. The views from the Slí na Sláinte route were beautiful in the October sunshine.

Thank you to all who sponsored a student or who bought a raffle ticket. Your support is, as always, very much appreciated.
