Fundamental Movement Training and Spikeball

Our students have been enjoying some extra PE in recent times. Not only has Paddy Ivors been putting our young hurlers through their paces as usual but we have had the benefit of some extra coaching during April and May.

Barry Burke delivered six Fundamental Movement Training sessions to each class. The sessions were great fun and were really enjoyed by our students. A big thank you to Barry and to Ballingarry GAA Club for organising the sessions.

It's always nice to have former students come back to see us so were were delighted to welcome TY students Anna, Colm, Elizabeth, Gavin, Grace, James, Tadgh and Thomas back to their old stomping ground. The Presentation Secondary School students were coaching Spikeball to our Fifth and Sixth Class.

Friendship Week

May 7th to 10th was Friendship Week in Our Lady's NS and one of the many friendship promoting activities that went on was the Inter Class Buddy Reading. First and Second Class got to read their books with their friends from Third and Fourth while Fifth and Sixth Class visited the Infant room to read with their young 'buddies'.

Cumann na mBunscol - U13 Camogie

On Thursday, May 2nd, our Camogie team journeyed to Fethard to take on Duala in the Roinn E County Semi-final. Duala have proved to be our undoing at the semi-final stage on previous occasions but this year's squad were determined not to let history repeat itself.

The weather was slightly better than forecast and the rain stayed away until a downpour in the last quarter made conditions difficult. Both teams were undeterred and served up an exciting contest nonetheless.

Despite a very even start Our Lady's got their noses in front early on and managed to hold the lead until the final whistle. Leading by five goals after a brilliant start to the second half, we appeared to cruising, but Duala to their credit came storming back. Our girls held on and showed great courage and skill to see out the contest.

The final score was Our Lady's 12-8 Duala 11-6.

Next up for our girls is a trip to Semple Stadium for the County Final.

Cumann na mBunscol - U13 Hurling

On Friday April 26th, our u13 hurling team took part in the Roinn E Blitz which was held in Monroe. We were blessed with the weather which no doubt contributed to an entertaining tournament. All five teams were evenly matched and all of the matches were close. A play-off was needed to determine the winners as no team was able to top the group unbeaten. Kilsheelan were victorious in the play- off against Ballyneale and we wish them well in the next round.

Our Lady's NS made a great start to the blitz by beating Cloneen before losing narrowly to Kilsheelan. Ballyneale beat us in the next game before our boys and girls proved to be too strong for Lisronagh.

Panel: Wayne Darcy (c), Niall Cleary, Charlie Finnegan, Harry Carroll, Cody Hanlon, Alan Kelly, Eamonn Quigley, Órla McAree, Róisín Norton, Amber Hearne, Amy Burns, Tommy Butler.
