County Champions!!

Well done to our U13 Girls' Football team who won the Roinn F County Final in Littleton today. The final score was 10-6 to 2-3 but in truth the match was a lot closer than the scoreline suggests. Templetouhy put up a great fight and never let their heads drop. However our girls proved to be too strong on the day and their athleticism, determination and skill ensured the Girls' Roinn F Shield made its way to Ballingarry for the first time.

Congratulations to all the girls who played today. They were magnificent and represented their school with great distinction. Tribute must also be paid to the girls who didn't play today but played their part in getting us to the final in the first place. Well done to all of you.

Thank you to Paddy Ivors for his tireless work in coaching all of our budding GAA stars in both football and hurling. His astute coaching and motivational skills really paid dividends today.

Thank you also to the parents who came today and other days. Your support is much appreciated.

October 2023 Assembly

Friday, October 27th was the last day before the Halloween break and was the perfect time to hold our October assembly.

Miss Hogan, our new Library Club coordinator, had a nice surprise for the Junior Infants when she presented them with their 'My Little Library Book Bag'. These bags, containing three lovely books, (amongst other items) are part of an initiative to encourage the use of our wonderful (and free) nationwide libraries as well as helping young students navigate the big step into Primary School.

Our attendance raffles were held as well. Congratulations to our lucky winners and well done to all our students on their efforts to improve their attendance.

Our 'Writers of the Month' and 'Mathematicians of the Month' were also presented with their certificates. Well done to all and keep up the good work.

We presented a new award this month - The Kindness Award.
This award goes to children who impress the teachers with their care and consideration for their fellow students. It was difficult for the teachers to chose only one student each but they were happy that those chosen were very deserved winners indeed.

Of course the big business of the day was to choose the 'Class of the Month' for October.
Well done to First and Second Class for earning their first award of the year.

Mrs Walzer's Half Term Report

First and Second Class have been very busy since September! We completed our first project,  taken many trips to the library, preformed some Halloween themed experiments and shown off our mathematical skills during Maths Week.

The children worked in groups to complete a project on spiders! They researched, designed and presented their projects!! We learned some amazing facts about spiders and we even found some beautiful webs outside our classroom.

Each week we take a trip to the library. We have read so many books since September and all the children are getting really good at completing their book reports after reading!

Maths week was lots of fun! The children went on a problem hunt around the classroom and played lots of maths games, some of which had the added bonus of being edible!!!

Halloween week has brought its own fun! We learned that pumpkins float, who would’ve thought? Certainly not us, most of us predicted that they would sink but after carrying out our experiment we can confirm, they do in fact float! We then went on to cut open the pumpkin and use our senses and our knowledge of adjectives to describe the pumpkin, smelly and slimy being the preferred description!! We learned all about the different parts of the pumpkin and its life cycle ! We carried out another experiment to check out the reaction between vinegar and baking soda , it bubbled like a potion in a witches cauldron much to our disappointment as a huge explosion was expected from most !!!!!

We have learned so much and had lots of fun along the way!

Which Witch is Which?

Mrs Egan's Junior and Senior Infants are scarily good at spatter painting!
