Happy Halloween!
Happy Halloween from all the students and staff at Our Lady's N.S.
Confirmation and Communion 2021
October is not the usual month for celebrating First Communions and Confirmations but then 2021 has not been a usual year.
Congratulations to last year's Fifth and Sixth Class who received the sacrament of Confirmation in the Church of the Assumption on Sunday, October 3rd. Due to restrictions on numbers in the church, Our Lady's NS had a ceremony all to ourselves which made for a lovely intimate occasion. Thankfully Archbishop Kieran O'Reilly was there to confirm the children made the occasion all the more special.
On the following Sunday our Third Class students took centre stage as they made their First Communion. Fr Quirke celebrated the Mass and our thanks go to him for all that he does for the children of our parish.

My Big Day - by Jack Carroll
On Saturday morning I woke up early got in the cows.
Neddy Donovan, Grandad's friend and mine, is a big dealer. He brought 5 calves into the mart and we brought 6.
It was Show and Sale Day and there were about 5000or more cattle and calves there. We went and got our breakfast with Sean's older brother Daniel and Neddy. Then I was with Danny watching it and looking at the cows and calves. The show was so big.
When Grandad heard that he had won first place he was full of joy and I was as well. So was Daniel. We got a trophy and a rosette. That was my best day.

Cycling Safety Training
Jason and Jim from South East Cycling Safety made the first of six visits to our school today, September 22nd. Jim took the students for a safety talk while Jason transformed our yard into a road network. The students then donned their helmets and put what they had learned to use as they took to the winding streets of our playground.
Outdoor Classroom
Our Infant Classes had great fun trying out the new facilities in our outdoor classroom. The mud kitchen and waterwall proved to be a huge hit with our youngest students.
Even Maths is more fun outdoors....
First Penance
Congratulations to our Third Class who made their First Penance in the Church of the Assumption with Fr Quirke on Thursday 16th of September.
Their next big day is their First Communion on Sunday, October 10th. We wish them all the very best of luck for this long awaited occasion.

Keeping Our Distance
I know that we are all sick of COVID 19 but our students are continuing to do their bit to stop the spread of the virus. They are sanitising and washing their hands and following all the COVID 19 protocols in place in the school. Here are Third and Fourth Class maintaining a safe social distance as they line up at the end of break. Well done to all!
Junior Infant Class 2021/22
We welcomed six new wonderful Junior Infant students to Our Lady's NS this year. Mrs Egan reports that they have settled in straight away and she is looking forward to a fun and productive year with her new recruits.
A Fresh Start
The classrooms in Our Lady's NS are looking fresh and clean and ready to go for the new school year. It was a busy summer at the school. The prefab got treated to a new marmoleum floor and entrance mats. Thank you to John Treacy and TreFlor for a wonderful job. John Teehan gave the prefab a fresh coat of paint which really spruces the place up. A new fire alarm system, emergency lighting and lighting were installed by Excel so thank you to them for a great job too.
A big 'thank you' also to Evelyn Healy who had the place gleaming in time for the return of our students.
