A great day of game playing, modelling and fun was had by all. We raised €158.
·

their jerseys. We raised €197 for GOAL.
Christmas Activities
- Christmas Shoe Box Appeal
We
organised 20 shoe boxes for the Shoebox Appeal and children made a huge effort
to make the boxes very exciting for all the children receiving them. This was much appreciated. No doubt they will put a smile on many faces
on Christmas morning!
- Thinking of Others:
As
it is near the season of goodwill and a special time for thinking of others we
have once again decided to organise a food collection for the “less well off”
in our community and present it to a St Vincent De Paul member at our Christmas
Mass on Thursday Dec 21st at 11am. One contribution per family will
suffice. Every little helps but please
don’t feel under pressure at this time of year.
·
Christmas
Cards in Our Lady’s N.S.
This year
we would once again encourage children not to bring in a Christmas Card for
every child in their class. Instead each
class is going to have a “Christmas Card Kris Krindle”. Each child will be given plain card and an
envelope to bring home to make a card for a friend, whose name they pulled out
of a hat. They must put this in the
“Class Post Box” before Monday December 18th and they will be
“delivered” in time for Christmas holidays.
·
Christmas
Mass/Raffle
This year
our Bumper Raffle will take place on Thursday 21st December after
the Christmas Mass. As always we have a
huge array of fabulous prizes. Tickets
will go home to all families on Monday, December 4th. All parents welcome to attend.

reasons.
- Homework:

done carefully and the child’s journal signed (1st – 6th)
each night.

In the Thurles Gardaí Art Competition, Oisín O'Brien won first prize in the Second Class competition. Emily Ivers came second in the Third Class competition.
And if that wasn't enough Cormac Boylan won second prize for his age group in the Credit Union Art Competition.

Presentation Secondary School Taster Day
On Tuesday, November 14th the students of Fifth and Sixth Class were invited down to the Secondary School for a taste of what life would be like if they choose to go there. Here is what they thought:
"Today I went to the Secondary School. My time there was great. We first went to the Woodwork class and then we had a bit of lunch. We then went to Art and sculpted monsters out of clay. When we were finished we went on the bus back to school. I had great fun and I will definitely be going there next year."
- Emma Geeves, 6th Class
"Today Fifth and Sixth Class went down to the Secondary School. First, when we went in we did Woodwork. We made keychains with Mr. Egan. Then we did Art. We used clay to make a creature. We also got a goody bag each. Then we went and played hockey, soccer and basketball. My favouite activity was the Art."
- Josh Kealy, 6th Class

Play Rota
They say that every cloud has a silver lining and the silver lining from the very big clouds we had today was 'Play Rota' at break time. It might have been lashing rain outside but our wonderful Infants had lashings of fun indoors.

Harvest Time
Fifth and Sixth Class got their hands dirty today and harvested some of the crops sown last spring with Miss Quirke. They dug up plenty of potatoes but unfortunately they were a bit on the small side. Lots of carrots were picked too and we even harvested some turnips and peas. Our rhubarb is still growing strong.
Speaking of Miss Quirke, here is a photo taken last June of when we sadly had to say goodbye.
Florrie's Back!
Our Senior Infants have been so good so far this year that Florrie had a hard job deciding on who was the best behaved. In the end he decided that everybody deserved a hug! The sly old fox.
